Why AWF?
- AWF is free and open. You can add and change whatever you want and you save money at the same time (if you do this on your own).
- AWF is faster than comparable PHP based Web Content Management Systems like Typo3. See Performance.
- AWF is designed for PHP 5, the latest version of PHP - there is no need for legacy code like in other solutions originally designed for PHP 3/4.
- AWF supports fully flexible URLs which, for example, allow you to replace existing static websites.
- AWF's philosophy is easy to understand: The admin area is clearly structured, Java/Flash are not required and most of the source code is object-oriented and therefore easy to extend by developers.
- AWF's security is a priority during the whole development process. Passwords are SHA1 encrypted, .htaccess files in the include folders prevent configuration files from being exposed and if somebody finds a security flaw, it will be instantly fixed.
- AWF can be installed by everybody who owns a webspace with PHP 5 and MySQL - just unpack the provided archive and run admin/install.php.
- AWF is based on standards for PHP development like PEAR::DB, the Spaw WYSIWYG Editor and the Smarty Template Engine. Advantage: You don't have to learn proprietary scripting languages for templates, work with a buggy editor or experiment with a new database interface. The things you learn by using AWF will help you working with other PHP software too!
- AWF users are generally smart, young and open-minded people. There is no marketing department behind AWF that spams you with superficial buzz-words!
